Description:
A bright yellow Cortinarius associated with Fuscospora truncata (Hard beech) in the Auckland region. Sequencing confirms it represents a distinct, undescribed lineage within the yellow Phlegmacium‑like complex of New Zealand. Characterised by its yellow to yellow‑brown cap, yellow stipe, and gregarious habit on mossy forest floors.

Pileus: 30-60 mm diam., convex to broadly convex, sometimes slightly wavy at the margin. Surface yellow to yellow‑brown, smooth to slightly fibrillose, sometimes with a faintly viscid sheen in moist conditions. Margin even; colour stable, not strongly hygrophanous.
Lamellae: Adnate to adnexed, moderately spaced, yellow‑ochre to pale brown, darkening with age. Edges even.
Stipe: 40-80 x 6-15 mm, cylindrical or slightly clavate, pale yellow to yellow‑ochre, smooth to finely fibrillose.
Context: pale yellow; no distinct bulb. No persistent veil remnants observed.
Veil / Cortina: No persistent veil remnants observed., leaving no clear ring zone.
Odour/taste: Not recorded.
