Description:
A medium-sized forest parasol with a rich brown cap, a thick, pigmented cuticle, and a distinct radial pattern of raised tufts formed as the cap expands. Gills are white and free, stipe white, and a persistent ring is present.

Cap: 40-90 mm, convex to plano-convex. Immature: uniformly dark brown, smooth or slightly velvety. Mature: the thick brown cuticle ruptures into radial, raised tufts or plates pale flesh shows between the tufts centre remains dark brown Tufts are thicker and more plate-like than in the purple species. Flesh white, unchanging when cut.
Gills: Free, crowded, broad. White, remaining pale throughout development. Edges smooth.
Stipe: 60-120 x 8-15 mm, white, slender to moderately stout. Surface smooth or faintly fibrillose. Ring thin but persistent, usually superior. Base not strongly bulbous.

Common name: None.
Habitat: Lowland podocarp forest.
Substrate: Deep leaf litter.
Distribution: New Zealand wide.
Season: Autumn.
Biostatus: Endemic, undescribed species.
Edible: No, to small.
